For December 19th's Advent devotion, you will read Matthew 1:20-24. You can talk about how important names were in the Bible. They usually stood for who that person was and what they would do.
Before Jesus was even born, God sent the angel Gabriel to talk with Joseph, Jesus' father on earth. The angel told Joseph what to name the baby, and you will read what the Jesus' name means. You can make a symbol for Joseph like below, and place it on your tree. Sing your favorite Christmas song about Jesus being born a baby, like Away in a Manger, and thank God for sending Jesus as a little baby to save us from our sins!
