What Kids Can Do Each Day & Wednesday's Prayer & Blog Link-up Time!

Many of you know that my daughter, Mary, and I are in the mountains of Virginia at the Virginia Suzuki Institute. It's a wonderful string camp for kids. Each day at 1:30, over a dozen different students give a solo string recital. All the kids are fantastic! Mary's turn is tomorrow. She is playing a piece called, "Humoresque," by Dvorak.

One reason the Suzuki method of teaching music is so successful is that the parents are very involved in the child's music lesson for the first several years. Did you know the Bible says that "he who walks with the wise grows wise, but the companion of fools suffers harm"? Yep! It's right in the Bible at Proverbs 13:20.

Parents are the best companions for children. Don't let the world squeeze you into it's mold thinking your children need to constantly be with their peers! You are your child's best companion!

Here's a tip I once heard that may help you each day. Someone once said that everyday a child should have 3 things:

Something to think about.
     Something to do.
          Something to love.

Something to think about can be reading a verse or passage of scripture or a great, wholesome book.

Something to do can be really simple. It can be taking a walk, riding bikes, doing a chore, giving the dog a bath, creating artwork, or practicing a musical instrument.

Something to love to could be helping with their little sister, playing with the dog, or cuddling their guinea pig.

Enjoy some pictures and a clip from earlier today from camp!
We are doing a lot of walking to get to class!
Our violin camp is being held at Emory and Henry College. It is beautiful up here. This is the view from the building where Mary has her "Master Class" with her teacher and two other students & her group class. Below is a 15 second clip I took today in her group class.

    1. Hi Gail! Thank you for being faithful in linking up! Loving Lord, Today I bring you Gail. You know we are but dust Lord; yet You have chosen to reside in the bodies of believers! Amazing! We don't take good health for granted. I ask you to help Gail with her health. Touch her body Lord; guide her to the right people if she needs help outside of herself; if not, Lord, show her what step she can take to living healthier. Amen.

    1. It is Joanne! The mountains seem to foster a worshipful attitude! I'd love to pray thanksgiving for this beautiful environment He's allowed us to learn in this week, and for being the King of Creation! My time with my daughter has been so sweet, and we've met so many people for the first time. Many have come here for years with the violin camp, and it is our first time. Thank you for faithfully posting in the link-up!

  3. I have two requests: 1) I feel God wants me to serve and use my gifts in a new way. Pray that I will pursue the right opportunity (or opportunities). 2) Pray that I will not conform to the ungodly attitudes and activities of my workplace.

    Thank you!
    Rebecca

    1. Hi Rebecca! I love seeing your pretty face in the thumbnail by your comment. Thank you for beautifying my page:-) Lord, please guide Rebecca to where You would have her serve. Help her to hear your voice clearly, so that she knows that is it You speaking to her through your Word. You also know about her workplace, Lord. Help her to be in the world but not of the world. May your light shine like a flower in the woods, because You live in her! Help her to continually be conformed to your image, becoming more like your character. Amen.

    1. Hi Jana! I'm sure you are talking about your neighbor who had a stroke whose wife works and he is home. Heavenly Father, we lift up Jana's neighbors to You. Jana is not sure what to do, for them & with a lot of other ideas that are rolling in her head. Lord, You remind us to look to You and to keep our eyes on You. Help Jana to keep her heart centered in You, and having been filled with You, help her to know what to do to serve You best. Help her to rest in You and in Your love. Amen.

  5. I pray that we would all seek the Creator and fervently and fearlessly stand for what His Word proscribes. That in spite of the arrogance and ignorance of the Supreme Court in their rulings today, marriage between ONE MAN and ONE WOMAN will not be allowed to be put asunder by men. We should also pray for those who have the burden of same sex attraction. That they would know Christ. Lord God, Father, Almighty have mercy on us all. In Jesus Holy Name. Amen.

    1. I'm so glad that you wrote! Let's pray! Loving Lord & Heavenly Father, I lift up to you today those who bear the weight of being attracted to their same sex—not in a friendship way—but in a way you designed in the garden when You brought Eve to Adam. Lord, help those who truly want to seek You to know that they are not their feelings, they are their choices. Help them to do what we all have to do with our sin, what I had to do with the sin of leaving my husband, we have to turn away from it, make a U turn, deny ourselves and follow You—in spite of our feelings. Help those who are broken in their sexual identity to choose not their own way—but Your way. Your way leads to life & blessing! You will is very different from what we think it will be, but oh, so much more glorious! Help those under the burden of same sex attraction to not follow their feelings, but by a sheer act of their will to put their trust in You. Encourage them in your God way that they will know it is You and You alone in them that will help them moment by momen & work in their life. Help them Lord not to be slave to their same sex attraction, just like a married man doesn't have to be slave to a roaming eye towards women but can bring it under the blood of Christ. Help them to see your will in the trial. Lord, while I don't know what it is like to struggle in this area, I know what it is like to have something you don't want, or to want something you don't have (suffering). It can drive us to You! Anything that drives us to you is good. We can still have your joy right in the middle of suffering! I do know that firsthand from having a daughter born blind. Help those who beear the burden of same sex attraction to be built up in who they are in Christ, for it is not hard to live the Christian life Lord, it is impossible. It is Christ in us that can live the life that brings You glory that find joy in the gift of suffering. We all need your grace Lord! Thank you for your unending love of us. Thank you for parting with your son while He was on the cross, so that He could die and fix our complete brokenness. All of our hope is in You. Amen

  6. Oh, Juana and Mary I found your site soon after arriving home from VSI! It was such a blessing to meet you both. I hope you enjoyed the T-Tapp class. The chamber concert was the best yet. The boys say "Hi"! Hope to plow through your post as time allows. I cleaned up the kitchen at Stuart Hall today and I kept looking for Elizabeth but she never showed herself!
The Lord has blessed us richly today...even though I worked at camp, I have returned home with a peace that can only be a result of His abundant sufficient grace.

    Blessings,

    Georgia

I feel like we have known each other longer than just a few days, it's our bond in the Lord! I too, came back refreshed! Love to you, Georgia!
