Lynn's Story of Taking Jesus Off the Shelf

You are in for a treat today! In this week where love is celebrated all over the world, I'd like to feature the author of love: Jesus!

The Bible tells us in John 10:27, that "My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me." We are His! He is calling out to us, "Be mine! I am your first love!" This Valentine's Day, remember who you belong to:

"Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture." ~Psalm 100:3

This week to celebrate God's love poured out on us, I want you to meet three friends of mine: Lynn, Betsy, and Holly. Each of them will be giving their testimony right here.

It all happened live this morning at the Bible study that I attend, and I taped it all for you so you can hear each one! Isn't it amazing that they just gave their stories this morning on the east coast of the United States, and you can hear it today right where you live? Thank you Lord for technology!

We even had a surprise at the end when our sound man, Barry, had a few things he wanted to say to us, and I think you will like and have fun with what he had to say to us! So sit back, or grab your headphones if you are reading this from your smartphone, and enjoy the fresh air as you hear their stories—which is really His story.

Today, I want you to meet my friend, Lynn R. She left Jesus on the shelf for a long time, but she picked Him back up again. But I'll let you hear her tell it.

Meet Lynn R., and be blessed!

To hear Lynn's testimony you may click the above YouTube link,  or you may click here. (running time: 10 minutes)

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart
And do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He will make your paths straight."

I want to say a special welcome to all the new readers in the last week, especially to those in who want to become part of something I'm calling my "circle of friends."

Hi Mae (I hope David is better!), Jana, Jude, "L," Jennifer, Lynn E., Anita, Olivia, Rebecca, and Lynn H! If you are wondering why I'm calling them by name (or pseudonym they chose for those that desire to be anonymous) is so we can talk a bit more to discuss the spirit application of today's blog in the comment sections and pray for one another.

And as always, anyone is free to join in the conversation, whether you are in the circle or not.

The circle allows us to use names. You have a name! The Bible is full of the names of people. You matter to God! I for one, want to know your name. I still want to talk with you if you prefer to be anonymous or use initials in your post.

If you would like to be a part of the circle, click here for my recent post called, Calling Christian Girlfriends of all Ages!

My husband came home at lunch and he mentioned he wanted to ride bikes together today. He just texted me, "Please be ready to ride at 4." (He knows I need supernatural help to be on time!)

Since it is after 3 where I live, and I want to have a "yes face," when he gets here.

A "yes face," is a term I learned today while on the treadmill listening to Chuck Swindoll that he got via a story about Thomas Jefferson...tell you that story later this week:) I'm making a yes face to you right now! (And don't be impressed that I got on a treadmill today. It is a rare event. It's really something that I want to be a regular part of my life—please pray for me in this.)

Coming soon on the blog will be the full video highlights of my visit last week with author and Bible teacher, Nancy Cobb. Nancy has much to show us about how to be the kind of wives Christ calls us to be. Trust me, you will not want to miss what Nancy had to say!

Warning: it's radical in our day! I had told Nancy one of my struggles was making time to exercise and that my husband really wants me to do it regularly to take care of myself.

When we were saying goodbye, I said, "Nancy, it will take me a while to get this video loaded onto my YouTube page and blog, because I'll have to edit it first." She looked me in the eye and replied, "Just be sure you exercise before you do it."  I think I made an ouch face.

Next blog after tomorrow's Valentine blog, I'd like you to meet my friend Holly and hear her story, "From Striving to Peace."

Walk by Faith,

  1. What a wonderful testimony, and thanks to Lynn for sharing it! I think many of us put Jesus "on the shelf". I know I've been guilty of it. We are so blessed to have a faithful, loving Savior who loves us so much that He woos us to Him, time and time again.
I'll be praying for your exercising,Juana! With the start of Lent, I have begun my annual trek toward summer , challenging myself to eat healthier and get regular exercise. (I never make New Year's Resolutions, I'm more of a Lenten Resolution gal!)I love walking, and now that it's lighter later am planning on getting out there and walking every day. Of course, once the snow from the blizzard melts enough to be able to walk safely!
I have been praying on breaking some stronghold's in my life. For the past six years, the Lord has used the events in my life to make me aware of a lot of behaviors caused by family issues (alcoholism, addiction, & mental illness among them)that I took as completely normal. Over the past few months, He's opened my eyes to my own contributions to this family bondage, and is helping me move toward escaping their grip. I sure know I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me! I would love having you all pray for me!
Lastly, I just received word as I wrote this, that my 97 year old dad hasn't much longer to live. For the past five years he has battled throat, prostate, and finally bone cancer. Please pray he has peace (he is terrified of dying) and that he goes gently. Prayers also for my mom, please.
Looking forward to hearing from everyone, and to more testimonies!

    1. Hi Jude! Thank you for praying for my exercising. Yesterday I did really well, treadmill...some floor exercises, and then rode bikes with my hubby. But today, I did not do any. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate it, and I will pray for you to get to walk with the melting snow! I'm so glad you hear Lynn's testimony... you will relate to Holly's that is coming... when you said generational issues...Holly has seen God break the cycle of alcoholism that was on both sides... that's coming soon! So neat how God is opening your eyes to the Truth. Dear Lord, give Jude's dear, old father your peace as he nears the end of his life on earth. We lift up her mother in the final season of life and to finish well! More testimonies coming this week and next!

  2. Dear Circle of Friends,
What a great testimony! Thanks so much for being willing to share! As I was reading yesterday's blog, I couldn't 't help but think about how many times over the years that my New Years resolutions have been to loss weight and how this year is going to be different from all the others! Well, as I have lost the same baby weight as I call it, for the past 24 years, I have finally figured out that without putting God first and praying for the strength to keep this a priority I will continue to fail in this area of my life! So, my daughter and I have started the program called Fit Moms For Life! It is all about getting fit after childbirth! I know I am a little late, but better late than never. My main reason for wanting to make this commitment at this time in my life is I want to be around 10-20 years from now! I want to see my grandchildren and be a part of their lives. I have been diabetic for 21 years now and bad things are starting to take a toll on my body! So no longer am I going to try to lose weight, but I am going to live a healthier life style, which includes exercise in the hope that I can lose some weight! So I am asking for your prayers regarding my wellness and I will be praying for your physical needs as well!

    Blessings to all,
    Anita

  3. Thank you Anita for writing. I love knowing you better. I will pray for you in this area of your life. Boy, do I know this prayer! I love how in your prayer you want to live healthier. I am trying to come up with a way for the Circle of Friends to talk and pray for current prayers, and to get updates to the prayer. Maybe I could have one day a week on the blog dedicated to it.... hmmm. I'll keep thinking! God bless!
